The Thunder Bay Border Cats closed out their 2026 schedule Saturday by setting a season high in runs and hits as they hammered the Duluth Huskies 24-5 before 1,173 fans at Wade Stadium.  The Cats finished 8-8 over the final 16 road games, which included five doubleheaders, and wound up with an overall record of 27-41.
Trailing 2-0, the Cats scored in every inning from the third through the ninth, including three runs in the third and five in the fourth to take a commanding 8-3 lead.  The Cats banged out 22 hits with Bennett Crafton (Bradley University) and Jimmy Pelletier (Colorado State University-Pueblo) leading the way with four apiece.  Crafton drove in three runs and finished the season with a .346 batting average.  Jesus Vasquez (University of Hawaii) had a huge offensive night with three hits and six runs batted in, while Ayden Hadley (Northwest Missouri St. University) went 3-for-6 with two doubles, four RBI, and three runs scored.  Jacob Steinberg (Belmont Abbey College) and Thunder Bay native Jack Weiss (Jefferson CC) also collected three hits with Weiss reaching base six times and scoring five runs.  Stevie Waters (University of British Columbia) had two hits and knocked in three runs as Thunder Bay managed a split of the two-game series in Duluth.
For the third time in four games, the Border Cats received a stellar performance from one of their senior pitchers.  Vincent Segovia (University of Arkansas-Monticello) tossed four-hit ball over seven innings, giving up three runs, while walking one and striking out five.  The lefthander threw 105 pitchers as he evened his record at 2-2.
