CATS SPLIT DOUBLE HEADER IN EAU CLAIRE

The Thunder Bay Border Cats picked up one win in a double header against the Eau Claire Express Friday evening at Carson Park. The Border Cats lost the first of two late in the seventh for a 5-4 loss and went on to win game two 5-1 over Eau Claire. 

Nate Steger (Winston Salem) subbed in late in the seventh going on to give up the winning run for the Express. Starting pitcher Yuji Suzuki (Concordia – St. Paul) pitched the first 3.2 innings allowing three runs on five hits while getting two strikeouts.

Grant McKown (Florida Tech) put up one run on two hits while Donnie Sellers (Wake Forest) notched one run on one hit and one RBI in game one.

In game two of the double header starting pitcher Greg Weissert (Fordham University) pitched all but one inning in the shortened game allowing only one run and one hit while striking out seven of the Express.

Nate Nolan (St. Mary’s of CA) had one run on two hits and three RBI’s while Grant McKown (Florida Tech) had another strong performance scoring two runs on two hits with one RBI in the 5-1 win.

The Border Cats are back at home Saturday night for Pooch In The Park against the Mankato Moondogs at 6:05pm EST at TbayTel Park.
