CATS SPLIT DOUBLE HEADER WITH HUSKIES

The Cats picked up one win in the double header Monday night at Wade Stadium in Duluth, MN. The split brings the Border Cats record to 16-18 with the final game of the first half Tuesday night at TbayTel Park.

In game one starting pitcher Greg Weissert (Fordham University) picked up his second win of the season pitching seven scoreless innings allowing only five hits and striking out eleven. Nate Steger (Winston Salem State) notched his first save as a Border Cat allowing only one run on three hits while striking out one.

Jared James (Long Beach State) put up one run and one RBI on two hits while new comer Dan Rizzie (Xavier University) and Cater McEachern (Trinity University) helping the Cats pick up the 3-1 victory.

The Cats fell 2-1 in game two of the double header in Duluth. Johnny York (St. Mary’s College) was handed his first loss of the season pitching 8.1 innings allowing only two runs on seven hits. Grant McKown (Florida Tech) put the Cats on the board with one run on one hit.

The Border Cats return home Tuesday night at TbayTel Park to face the Mankato MoonDogs at a special 7:35pm EST game time.
