CATS SWEEP MOONDOGS
The Border Cats completed a three game sweep of Mankato with a dramatic walk-off 2-1 win over the MoonDogs Thursday night at TBaytel Park.
The MoonDogs finally scored their first run of the series in the 8th inning off Cats starter Kyle Von Ruden who went eight innings allowing only three hits while striking out seven.
Carter McEachern started the Thunder Bay rally in the bottom of the 9th inning with a one out single to left field. Alan Baldwin walked and Joe Gellenbeck was hit by a pitch to load the bases. That set the stage for Dan Rizzie and the catcher delivered as he slammed an 0-2 pitch off the left field fence for a game winning two-run double. Anthony Morris got the win in relief improving his record to 3-1.
The Cats begin a two game series against the St. Cloud Rox Friday night at TbayTel Park at 7:05pm.
