CATS SPLIT WITH BLUE ANCHORS
In the first series of a nine day road trip the Cats split their series with the Alexandria Blue Anchors 6-5 Thursday night and 8-3 Friday night.
In game one the Cats came out with the win beating Alexandria 6-5 Thursday night. Starting pitcher Johny York (St. Mary’s) went the first 7.2 innings allowing five runs on twelve hits while Mikael Mogues (Seton Hall) picked up the win for the Cats increasing his record to 1-1. Mogues went 1.1 hitless innings while striking out two. Max Dutto (California) picked contributed two runs to the win while Matt Batten (Quinnipiac) notched one run and two RBI’s.
The Cats fell 8-3 in game two Friday night. Julian Loret de Mola (Nova Southeastern) was handed the loss giving up five runs on nine hits over the course of 5 innings while new addition Malik Jones (Savannah State) came in for the last inning giving up only two hits while striking out two. Jared James (Long Beach) improved his average to a league leading .364 with two runs on three hits and one RBI.
The Cats head to Eau Claire to take on the Express at 6:35pm CST / 7:35pm EST Saturday night at Carson Park.
