The Border Cats have added two more right handed pitchers to their roster for the up coming summer.

Ben Hoffman (Monmouth) will be headed to the Border Cats from Monmouth University in West Long Branch, New Jersey.  In 11.2 innings on the mound Hoffman has allowed only 13 hits and struck out 4 during his first season with the Hawks. Before Monmouth the right handed pitcher played at Gloucester County College helping the team to the NJCAA World Series, after winning the Region 19 championship. He led GCC with 13 appearances, notching a 3-1 record and 30 strikeouts for a 2.74 ERA.

Cameron Churchill (Nova Southeastern) is in his freshman year with the Sharks and is already contributing to the team’s success. In his third start he pitched seven innings to win over Felician for NSU’s first nine-inning no hitter since 2007 and earned his first victory and achieved a season high six strikeouts. Churchill was also names to the SSC Commissioner’s Honor Roll. The right handed pitcher posts a total of 21 innings on the mound allowing only 17 runs while striking out for a 3-0 record.

The Border Cats are a member of the finest developmental league for elite college baseball players, the Northwoods League. Playing its 3rd season of summer collegiate baseball in 2016, the Northwoods League is the largest organized baseball league in the world with 18 teams, drawing significantly more fans, in a friendly ballpark experience, than any league of its kind. A valuable training ground for coaches, umpires and front office staff, more than 140 Northwoods League players have advanced to Major League Baseball, including Cy Young Award winner Max Scherzer (WAS) and MLB All-Stars Chris Sale (CWS),Jordan Zimmermann (DET), Curtis Granderson (NYM), Lucas Duda (NYM) and Ben Zobrist (CHC).
