CHURCHILL SHUTS OUT MANKATO
Thunder Bay, Ont. – The Thunder Bay Border Cats spilt the Sunday double-header against the Mankato Moondogs at TbayTel Park.
The Border Cats fell to the Moondogs after ten innings during the first game Sunday afternoon. Bobby Fulkerson (South New Hampshire) scored the tieing run in the bottom of the ninth inning sending the game into extra innings. The Border Cats allowed four unanswered runs in the top of the tenth for the Moondogs to win the game.
Game two of the double-header gave the Cats their first win at home as the shutout Mankato 3-0. Cameron Churchill (Nova Southeastern) threw a nearly perfect game allowing only one hit in the top of the seventh inning while striking out nine. Andy Weber (Virginia), Joe Gellenbeck (Xavier) and newcomer Michael Papierski (LSU) gave Thunder Bay the three runs.
The Border Cats start a three day road trip playing the Rochester Honkers Monday night at 7:05pm CST / 8:05pm EST.
