CATS WIN THIRD STRAIGHT AND SWEEP THE HONKERS!
The Thunder Bay Border Cats have won three games in a row! The Cats were dominant in the 5-1 victory as the Honkers could only manage three hits. Starting pitcher Noah Denoyer left the game after one out in the first inning but Jacob Kari came in and shut down the Honkers to pick up the win.
After Denoyer’s exit, Kari was dominant, pitching 5.2 innings while allowing only one run on two hits. Also, he struck out eight Honkers as Rochester could not get anything going. After Kari’s exit, Brandon Fokkema came in and was just as dominant. He allowed only one hit in three innings pitched and closed out the game for the Cats.
Offensively, Brendan Dougherty had one of the big hits for the Cats as he had a two RBI single in the fourth inning to give the Cats the 3-1 lead. JQ Folena and JF Garon added their own RBI’s in the seventh inning to push the lead to 5-1.
The Cats have battled back from losing their first three games to now having a 3-3 season record. The win also marks the first sweep of the year as the Cats win both games against the Honkers. The Cats now move to on to play the St. Cloud Rox in Brainerd, MN – the second series of the ‘home games away from home.’ The Border Cats would like to thank everyone involved in Marshall for being great hosts and helping out in our unfortunate field situation.
