BORDER CATS BEAT MOONDOGS IN COMEBACK FASHION

So far this summer the Thunder Bay Border Cats are no strangers to exciting baseball. Saturday night was no different as the Border Cats needed to comeback from a 5-2 deficit to eventually beat the Mankato Moondogs 7-5. The Cats had the early 2-0 lead in the top of the first inning but lost the lead soon after. They would not retake the lead until the seventh inning.

In the seventh inning, Jared McCunn contributed a RBI single and JF Garon was hit by a pitch which scored a run. As a result, the two runs scored cut the lead to 5-4 and gave the Cats the momentum. Both plays occurred with the bases loaded and the Cats loaded them again in the following inning. Colin Rosenbaum was hit by a pitch to score a run then Noah Strohl drove a ball to the outfield for a sacrifice fly. This would give the Border Cats the lead and they would not let it get away. The Moondogs came close in the ninth with the bases loaded but the Cats escaped with the comeback victory.

The win marks a series split between the teams and it moves the Cats to 5-7 on the year. Asher Cook picked up the win for the Cats while Brady Hill added his third save of the year. The Cats now travel to Lacrosse, WI for the first time this year and look to grab a couple wins. Also, Saturday marks one week until the Border Cats make their return to Port Arthur Stadium for the Home Opener. Make sure to visit the box office of call 766-2287 to reserve your seat.
