BORDER CATS WIN FIRST ‘HOME’ GAME OF THE YEAR!
In the first Sunday afternoon game, the Thunder Bay Border Cats picked up their first ‘home’ win of the season. The Cats were down for the majority of the game before getting two runs in the seventh inning followed by seven runs in the eighth inning. This gave the Cats the lead and they never looked back as they beat the Eau Claire Express 10-5.
The father’s day game got off to a great start as Sunday’s starting pitcher Blaze Bohall received the ceremonial first pitch from his father. It was a great moment for the Bohall family and got Blaze off to a great start. He pitched a terrific game going seven innings allowing only two runs. He also picked up his second win of the summer to cap off the great day for the Bohall family.
The one returnee from last year’s Border Cats squad – Andy Weber – made his return to Port Arthur Stadium Sunday and had an immediate impact at the top half of the lineup. He went 1-3 with two RBI’s and two walks. However, the big hit of the afternoon came off the bat of Kevin Biondic as he hit a grand slam in the eighth inning to break open the game.
The Cats once again were well supported from the Border Cats faithful as they cheered along from start to finish and even outwaited a 30 minute rain delay. The Cats will now once again leave Thunder Bay but will return with a bang on Friday night! Friday, June 23 will be the first of two fireworks nights this summer at Port Arthur Stadium.
