Border Cats Blown Away by Huskies
The Thunder Bay Border Cats did not fare well Thursday night as they fell 11-6 to the Duluth Huskies. The Cats kept the game close for the majority of the game, even tying it multiple times before the Huskies took over. The game was tied at four going to the bottom of the sixth and that’s when Duluth started to pull away. They scored four runs in the sixth and then another three in the seventh.
The Cats have struggled this year against their close rivals to the south as they have lost five of six matchups. Also, the Huskies have clinched the Superior Cup for another year. The Superior Cups is awarded every year to the winner of the season series between the two teams. It marks the battle of Lake Superior between the two rivals.
The Cats now return home to Thunder Bay to take on the St. Cloud Rox. It will be an incredible atmosphere to welcome home the Cats as it will be the first extended home stand of the summer. Following the game will feature the first of two post-game fireworks shows presented by Tbaytel. Last year’s fireworks were incredible so this year expects to be just as good or better. Make sure to reserve your seat before they’re all gone. You can visit the box office or call 766-2287.
