The Thunder Bay Border Cats played their second and final game of this series in Bismarck, North Dakota. This will be the last meeting of the Border Cats and Larks on the road until a 4 game series at home in Thunder Bay from the 13th to 16th of July.
The Border Cats did not waste any time in this game getting on the scoreboard. Colin Rosenbaum got on base with a single in the first. It was not long until Braden Mosley hit a single (accompanied by a Bismarck error) to bring Rosenbaum home to put the Border Cats up 1 in the 1st. The hits parade kept coming in the second inning when the Border Cats got a commanding 5 runs to extend their lead to 6-0. The additional runs were scored by Colton Thomas, Colin Rosenbaum (2) and Kevin Biondic (2).
Defensively, the Cats were flawless through 6 innings in part to the shutdown pitching from tonight’s starter, Blaze Bohall (4-1). On the night he pitched 6 innings with 5 hits and 9 strikeouts. The bullpen did let in two runs by the Larks but then locked in their pitching for the rest of the night. At the conclusion of tonight’s game, the Border Cats pitching staff ended the game with 9 hits allowed, 2 runs against and 14 strikeouts.
The Border Cats are back at .500 with a 2-2 record after splitting this series with the Bismarck Larks, who are now at a second half record of 1-3.
