Border Cats Roughed up by Moondogs
With the sun beaming down onto the field, the Mankato Moondogs swept the series against the Thunder Bay Border Cats. The Moondogs scored ten runs on only six hits to beat the Border Cats 10-1. The Cats countered the Mondogs with eight hits but were unable to score more than once. Noah Strohl contributed three of the eight hits and Andy Weber added two more.
The Moondogs came out of the gate firing on all cylinders as they score three runs in the first inning knocking out the Cats starting pitcher Jake Mielock. They added three more in the second inning to take a commanding six run lead. Until the bottom of the sixth inning came around the Moondogs held an 8-0 lead before the Cats scored their first run on a Kevin Biondic sacrifice fly. The Cats were unable to get back in the game as the Moondogs pitchers shut down the Cats.
