LATE RALLY FALLS SHORT AS STINGERS DEFEAT BORDER CATS IN SEASON FINALE
The Thunder Bay Border Cats scored one in the 9th but Noah Strohl got thrown out at 3rd for the final out as the Willmar Stingers drop the Cats 4-3. Thunder Bay out hit Willmar 12-8, but what proved to be costly was the Border Cats 3 errors to the Stingers 0 in the season finale. All 3 errors were committed in the 3rd inning, which led to 3 Stinger runs. All Star Andy Weber and J-F Garon led the way with 3 hits apiece for Thunder Bay. Nick Caldeen, Gabriel Lozada, and Brendan Dougherty had the RBI for the Border Cats. A big congratulations to Calgary native and Stingers infielder Nolan Bumstead on becoming the 1st player in Northwoods League history to start in all 72 games in the regular season. Bumstead also had a good day at the plate going 2-2 with an RBI and a run scored. The Border Cats would like to wish all teams in the playoffs good luck. The Border Cat players and staff would like to thank all season ticket holders, host families, sponsors, and all fans for your continued support of the team. We hope to see you all in spring of 2018. GO CATS GO!
