GULAKOWSKI HOMERS AS BORDER CATS SWEEP STINGERS

Brady Gulakowski hit the Border Cats 1st home run of the year to propel Thunder Bay to a 4-2 win over the Willmar Stingers. Gulakowski finished 2-for-4 with 2 RBI on the night as the Cats picked up their 1st series sweep of the season. Thunder Bay got another night of strong pitching as Alec Olmstead went 4 and 2 3rds giving up 2 earned runs, while Joey Cardamon came in relief to pick up the win going 4 and a 3rd of no hit ball. The Border Cats scored 3 runs in the 2nd led by the Gulakowski home run, Nick Conti then scored on a wild pitch and Shane Connahan finished the scoring in the frame with a sac fly. All 3 runs were charged to Michael Bohlke. With the Cats up 3-2 in the 8th, Gulakowski added some insurance with a 2-out RBI single in the 8th. The Border Cats will now take their 4-6 record on the road through Mankato and St. Cloud. The Cats return home Tuesday night to begin SUPERIOR CUP action against the Duluth Huskies.  It is Persian Man Night at the Ballpark; first 200 fans through the doors receive a FREE PERSIAN COUPON from the Persian Man.
