Border Cats Swept in Mankato
After once again getting off to a quick start, the Moondogs responded and never looked back. Billy Cook hit an RBI double to score Mark Vierling and got the Cats off to an early 1-0 lead. However, in the bottom half of the inning, the Moondogs scored a run of their own to tie the game at one. The Moondogs then scored five unanswered runs to silence any Border Cats comeback. Among those five runs, Moondogs infielder Kyle MacDonald hit his league-leading fifth home run.
At the plate, Billy Cook continued his hot start to the season thanks to a 3-4 performance with two runs and an RBI. Gunner Hellstrom also had a solid night as he went 1-3 with 2 RBI’s. Hellstrom and his teammates will now head to St. Cloud to play the defending champion Rox for the first time this season. First pitch is scheduled for 6:05 ET.
