Border Cats Fall to Rox in Walk-Off Fashion
For the second time in three games, the Border Cats fall victim to a walk-off homerun. This time Rox right fielder Jack Barrie hit his second homerun of the season over the left field wall to win it for the Rox in the 9th inning. Prior to the home run, it was a back and forth ballgame with momentum changing nearly every inning. The Cats once again got off to a quick start thanks to an RBI single from Nick Conti. However, the Rox came right back and scored four runs in the third inning. The big hit once again came off the bat of Jack Barrie who hit a three run homerun. In the next half inning, the Cats clawed their way back into the game by loading the bases on multiple occasions. Thanks to some timely hitting from Gunner Hellstrom and some sloppy defense from the Rox, the Cats were able to tie the game at 4. The Cats were never able to get comfortable as the Rox came right back and scored two more runs to take a 6-4 lead. Brandon Trammell and Nick Conti added RBI’s to tie the game at six before the walk off homerun from Barrie in the ninth.
The Cats will look to split the series against the same Rox squad tomorrow at 8:05 ET. It’s the final road game before returning home on Tuesday for a game against the Duluth Huskies. You can follow the action from the Border Cats Twitter account tbbordercats.
