A rain delayed start didn’t seem to hamper the Border Cats (4-10) zest for a good start going up 1-0 early in the first inning. However, as has been the case this road trip, that lead was washed away quickly.

Starting Cats pitcher, Jayden Metz (0-1) threw 4 and 1/3 innings giving up 3 runs on only 2 hits. With the outing Metz now sits with a 3.75 ERA and 14 K’s in 12 innings.

Offensively, there were a few Cats players who did well with the bat. Brandon Trammell and Mark Vierling each knocking a couple hits, while Nick Conti went 3 for 5. Border Cats RBI’s came from Billy Cook, Mark Vierling, and Shane Connahan.

The theme of the night was men left on base for the Cats. The Cats left a total of 11 on, while the St. Cloud Rox (7-7) left only 4 men on through the night.

The Border Cats smacked 11 hits while the Rox only 4. The big hit just never came.

The Cats are now back home for a one game home stand against the Duluth Huskies tomorrow night at Port Arthur Stadium. First pitch 7:05pm.
