CATS SWEPT BY DULUTH
The Duluth Huskies have taken the first two games of the Superior Cup over the Border Cats thanks to a 6-1 win on Wednesday night in Duluth, MN. Augie Isaacson and Chris Gilbody controlled the game offensively for the Huskies as they combined for four hits, 2 RBI’s, and caused chaos on the basepaths all night long.
The Cats once again continued a trend of scoring early in games but are unable to hold the lead. In the first inning, Evan Russell singled to score Garrett Saunders and give the Cats their only run of the ballgame. Adding to Saunders night he led the team in hits by going 2-3.
On the mound the Border Cats starting pitcher Joey Cardamon pitched six innings allowing only one earned run and striking out three but picked up the loss. Connor Fabing made his second appearance as a Border Cat and pitched a scoreless inning.
The Cats now head to Willmar, MN. to take on the Stingers for a two-game series. Three of the Cats wins this year have come against the Stingers. You can follow what’s happening in Willmar from our Twitter page tbbordercats.
