Cats Blow 9th Inning Lead and Lose Seventh Straight
The Border Cats took a 4-3 lead into the home half of the 9th inning and looked poised to end a six-game losing streak. A sacrifice fly from Matt Malkin tied the game at four for the Stingers. Two batters later with Richie Garcia at the plate for the Stingers, a wild throw to third base from Cats catcher Gunner Hellstrom went wide of the base and allowed the winning run to reach home. After the two-run inning, the final score is 5-4.
The Border Cats once again got on the board first thanks to a Billy Cook home run and a Brandon Trammell RBI single. In the next half inning, the Stingers tied the game back at two. The Cats added two runs and held a 4-2 lead for five innings before Andrew Gross blew the save. Cats starting pitched Alec Olmstead went seven innings while striking out four.
