Border Cats End Losing Streak with 4-1 Win Over Honkers
The Border Cats finally ended a nine-game losing streak Sunday afternoon with a 4-1 win over the Rochester Honkers. The Cats built up a 4-0 lead through five innings and held the lead through the end of the game. The Border Cats starting pitcher Erik Key held the Honkers to only five hits in his seven scoreless innings pitched and picked up the win. His solid performance also lowered his ERA to 4.95. At the plate, Ben McConnell, Brady Gulakowski, Brandon Trammell, and Nick Conti added the RBI’s for the Cats. All but two Cats had a hit in the game and contributed to the team total of nine hits.
The Cats now have a day off before heading back on the road to Rochester, MN. and Duluth, MN. The Cats will be back on Friday for the fourth game of the Superior Cup versus the Duluth Huskies.
