Border Cats Fail to End Losing Streak in Blowout Loss to Honkers
On a rainy evening at Port Arthur Stadium, the Border Cats lost 11-4 to the Rochester Honkers. The loss extends the Cats losing streak to nine games. The Honkers were hitting everything thrown at them as they combined for 19 hits. Christian Robinson, Thomas Greely, and Reed Hjelle combined to go 10-14 for the Honkers and set the tone offensively. All three were major factors in the fourth and fifth inning when the Honkers scored seven runs to take an 8-2 lead.
For the Cats, Mark Vierling and Gunner Hellstrom each drove in a pair to give the Cats their only two runs of the night. Ben McConnell and Brady Gulakowski both added a couple of the 11 Border Cat hits. On the mound, Connor Centala made his return to Port Arthur Stadium after being with the Cats during the 2017 season. He started the game for the Cats and only allowed two earned runs while striking out five.
The Cats will look to split the series and end the losing streak tomorrow at 1:35 PM. All kids 12 and under get in free so come get your tickets! Should be a great father’s day afternoon with the family. The box office will open at 11 AM.
