Border Cats Lose Pitcher’s Duel in Rochester
It was a classic pitcher’s duel Tuesday night in Rochester, MN. as both starting pitchers went back and fourth stopping any offense. Joey Cardamon was the story of the game for the Cats. He went 6 1/3 innings of no-hit baseball. He looked poised to pitch a no-hitter until a bunt single from Jaylon McLaughlin broke it up. Two batters later Alex McGarry drove in McLaughlin and gave the Honkers a 1-0 lead. However, in the next half inning, the Cats came right back and tied it at one thanks to an RBI single from Nick Conti. It would stay tied at one all the way through the 11th inning when a routine fly ball with two outs was dropped by center fielder Ben McConnell. The error allowed McLaughlin to score for the Honkers and win in walk-off fashion.
A few stats, there were nine hits combined, five for the Cats and four for the Honkers. The Honkers also struck out 19 Border Cats and pushed the Cats record to 1-11 on the road this season.
The Cats will be back in action tomorrow against the same Honkers. First pitch from Rochester is scheduled for 8:05 ET. You can follow all the action from the Border Cats Twitter tbbordercats.
