Border Cats Shut Down in Duluth
The Border Cats have dropped their third straight game of the Superior Cup and are down 3-0 in the series. Down 6-3 going into the ninth inning the Cats came close to pushing the game to extra innings but failed to do so. The Cats had runners on the corners with no outs and looked poised to make a comeback. They managed to score one run but a double play put the end to the Cats rally and lost the game 6-4.
The Huskies got off to a quick 3-0 lead and held it until the sixth inning. In the sixth, the Cats tied the game thanks to an RBI double from Garrett Saunders and an RBI single from Gunner Hellstrom. However, the Huskies came right back and took a three-run lead in the bottom half of the inning and never looked back. Alex Nolan made his return to the mound tonight and pitched five innings allowing only three runs.
The Cats will now make the trip back to Thunder Bay to start a seven games in six days homestand. Tomorrow’s game will be a rematch against the Huskies where the Cats will look to get back into the Superior Cup series.
