Border Cats Lose Superior Cup After 7-4 Loss

The Border Cats have officially lost the Superior Cup*. The Huskies beat the Border Cats 7-4 on Friday night at Port Arthur Stadium. The Huskies swept the series 4-0.

In terms of tonight’s game, the Huskies took an early and commanding lead. They led 4-0 after their half of the third inning. The Border Cats attempted a comeback in their half of the third inning and cut the Huskies lead to one. RBI’s from Gulakowski, Hellstrom, and Trammell contributed to the three-run inning. In the remaining innings, the Huskies added two more runs and never gave the Cats a chance to get back into the game.

There were a couple standout performances for the Border Cats. Gunner Hellstrom went 4-4 with two RBI’s and Evan Russell went 1-3 while scoring two runs. The bullpen was also solid tonight pitching seven innings of two-run baseball. Jack Rasmussen and Connor Fabbing were the men in charge out of the bullpen.

The Cats are back in action tomorrow against the St. Cloud Rox. First pitch from Port Arthur Stadium is scheduled for 6:05 PM. The box office opens at 11 AM. If you can’t make it you can follow the action through our Twitter tbbordercats.

*The Superior Cup involves the Huskies and Border Cats to mark the border battle between the two teams. The team who wins the season series wins the Superior Cup.
