Border Cats Dominate Rox in Victory
A quick start helped end the Border Cats four-game losing streak. The Cats scored seven runs in the first two innings to take a commanding 7-1 lead. From that point on the St. Cloud Rox never came close to getting back into the game. The Rox made the score look a little better in the last two innings but the Cats held the lead and won the ballgame 8-5.
Connor Centala started the game for the Border Cats and was solid in his 6 2/3 innings pitched. He struck out four Rox batters while only allowing three earned runs to pick up the win. John Sakowski and Andrew Gross were the two men out of the bullpen and they combined to allow only one earned run in their 2 1/3 innings. Andrew Gross picked up the save.
At the plate, there were numerous standout performances. Cam Pearcey made an immediate impact in his Border Cats debut. He caused trouble on the bases all night long as he got on base three times and scored twice. Billy Cook had a couple big hits resulting in a 2-4 performance with three RBI’s. Garrett Saunders also went 2-4 and drove in two runs. The other RBI’s came off the bats of Mark Vierling, Evan Russell, and Ben McConnell.
The Cats will continue their homestand tomorrow afternoon at 1:35 PM against the same Rox team. The box office will open at 11 AM. All kids 12 and under get in for FREE so come get your tickets! If you can’t make it you can follow along on Twitter @tbbordercats.
