Cats Shut-Out in Memorable Afternoon
It was a perfect afternoon for baseball but it did not go the way the Border Cats would have hoped. The Rox shutout the Border Cats 6-0 and held them to only five hits. The Rox scored four runs in the first three innings and never looked back. Starting pitcher Zach Lauzon shut down the Border Cats in his six innings by only allowing four hits. Ryan Weisenberg led the Rox with three hits and drove in one run.
For the Border Cats, Cam Pearcey continues to hit the baseball as he has now gone 3-6 with two walks in his two games played. The other hits came off of the bats of Garrett Saunders, Nick Conti, and Evan Russell. Erik Key started the game for the Cats and allowed three earned runs in three innings pitched and took the loss.
This afternoon’s ballgame featured far more than just a ballgame. Prior to the game, we were joined by the Lefebvre family who is currently walking across Canada from Grande Prairie AB. to Tignish, PEI. They are looking to help Society become and live cancer free through the effective use of awareness, education, and support. You can read all about their journey by visiting their website linked below. We also witnessed a proposal! Congratulations Dave and Angel! Finally, it was another Jr. Cats Sunday where all kids 12 and under got in for FREE and had the opportunity to run the bases. Although the score was not what we wanted it was an afternoon filled with great moments.
The Cats are back at Port Arthur stadium tomorrow at 7:05 PM. Join us for Happy Time Monday where all hamburgers are one dollar off. The box office opens at 11 AM.
