Loggers Roll Past Border Cats
It was another tough game for the Border Cats. This time the Lacrosse Loggers got the better of them as they won 8-1. Solid pitching matched with timely hitting and poor Border Cats defense was the key to securing the Loggers win.
Offensively, Harrison Freed and Shane McGuire led the way for the Loggers by combining for five RBI’s. Both came up big in a four-run sixth inning from the Loggers. For the Border Cats, Nick Conti had the lone RBI to drive in Mark Vierling. The Cats combined for six total hits and were unable to get much going offensively.
On the mound, Lalo Porras and Stephen Knapp were too much for the Cats. The two pitched the whole game and allowed only 13 Border Cats to reach base. Lalo Porras picked up the win. For the Border Cats, starting pitcher Drew Gooch kept the Cats in the ballgame. He went five innings of one-run baseball and struck out five batters. He kept the Cats in the game and gave them a chance to win but took the loss.
It was not a great night defensively as the Loggers contributed three errors. However, the Border Cats topped them with five errors. Two Loggers runs were unearned.
The Cats are back at home tomorrow for another ballgame against the Loggers. First pitch is scheduled for 7:05 PM. The box office opens at 11 AM. If you can’t make it make sure to follow the game on Twitter @tbbordercats.
