Border Cats Continue Strong Second Half Start in Bismarck

After a solid appearance last night from Erik Key, tonight’s starting pitcher Connor Centala (2-1) picked right up where Key left off. Centala dominated the Larks batters as he pitched seven innings of one-run baseball in a 7-3 win for the Border Cats. He only allowed six Larks to reach base and as a result, never let them get any momentum. His strong performance resulted in him being named the Northwoods League pitcher of the night. Andrew Gross came in relief for Centala and pitched two solid innings to finish the game.

Offensively, the Cats scored all their runs in three different innings. The Cats scored three runs in the fourth inning that was led by Daniel DeSimone and Shane Connahan. DeSimone hit an RBI single and Connahan followed it up with a 2 RBI double. Later in the game, an RBI triple from Brandon Trammell and a two-run single from Nick Conti extended the lead and was the difference in the ballgame. Every Border Cat contributed a hit with Nick Conti being the standout performer. He went 3-5 with two RBI’s and scored two runs.

The Border Cats have now won nine of their last twelve and sit with a 2-1 record to start the second half. The Cats will look to continue playing solid baseball tomorrow in Bismarck for the second game of the series. First pitch is scheduled for 7:05 ET.
