Border Cats Blow Late Lead in Loss to Larks
The Thunder Bay Border Cats blew a 4-2 lead in the ninth inning to the Bismarck Larks and lost the game 6-4. The Cats took held the lead but back to back two RBI doubles from Jacob Nesbit and Tristen Carranza gave the Larks the 6-4 lead. Andrew Gross was charged with the blown save and the loss.
Prior to blowing the lead, it was an exciting ballgame with lots to cheer about. There were incredible defensive plays such as a Cam Pearcey diving catch (Video coming soon). There was also some offense to cheer about. Brady Gulakowski went 2-5 with two RBI’s. His RBI’s came in the third inning when he hit a double to score Cam Pearcey and Billy Cook. Shane Connahan added the other RBI when he hit a sacrifice fly to score Brandon Trammell.
On the mound, the Cats starting pitcher Joey Cardamon (2-2) pitched another terrific game. He went six innings while striking out six and only allowing the lone earned run. He was in line for the win but ultimately ended with a no-decision.
The Cats will continue their homestand tomorrow against the same Larks. Join us for Staal Foundation Open night and weenie Wednesday, it’s 2 for one hot dogs! First pitch is scheduled for 7:05 PM. The box office opens at 11 AM.
