Border Cats Fall Short Against Larks
The Thunder Bay Border Cats lost 3-1 Wednesday night to the Bismarck Larks. All of the scoring happened in the fourth inning with Bismarck getting on the board first. Tristen Carranza was credited with the first RBI as the Cats third baseman Billy Cook made a throwing error which allowed the runner to score the first run of the ballgame. A few batters later CJ Schaefer drove in the other two runs as a two-RBI single gave the Larks a 3-0 lead. In the bottom half of the inning, the Cats scored their lone run off of an error from the Larks shortstop. The Cats were never able to get anything else going to get back into the game as they only had six hits in the game.
On the mound, Luke Malone was solid and kept the Cats in the ballgame. He went six complete innings allowing three runs with only two of them being earned runs. Omar Maldonado entered the game out of the bullpen and was solid in his three scoreless innings. He only faced 10 Larks and struck out four of them.
The Cats are back in action tomorrow at 7:05 PM versus the same Larks team. It’s Thirsty Thursday where all Sleeping Giant Beers are $1 off! The box office opens at 11 AM. If you can’t make it you can follow along on Twitter @tbbordercats.
