Cook and Pearcey lead Border Cats to Bounce Back Win!
The Thunder Bay Border Cats bounced back from back to back losses with a big 8-4 win over the Bismarck Larks. The Cats got on the board first and built a solid 3-1 lead in the first three innings. The Larks were able to tie the game at four in the seventh inning but a four-run Border Cats rally in the bottom half of the inning gave them a four-run lead. The Cats took control from there and did not allow the Larks to get back into the game.
Offensively, the top of the order in Cam Pearcey, Billy Cook, and Nick Conti were dominant tonight. They combined to go 8-14 with Cook leading the way with four of the hits and three RBI’s. Pearcey scored three runs, all of which came via Cook’s bat. Nick Conti added two RBI’s in his impressive outing. Dylan Caplinger added an RBI in his Border Cats debut. Shane Connahan and Brandon Bossard added the remaining RBI’s.
On the mound, Calvin Wood was solid in his five innings pitched. He only allowed two runs with one of them being an earned run. Jack Rasmussen, Brandon Trammell and Andrew Gross finished the game. They combined to hold the Larks to only seven hits.
The Cats will play the final game of the homestand tomorrow against the same Larks. It looks like it will be a beautiful evening for a ballgame so bring all of your friends to cheer on the Cats! The box office opens at 11 AM so come early to avoid waiting in line. First pitch is scheduled for 7:05 PM.
