Larks Outslug Border Cats 11-9
The Thunder Bay Border Cats lost 11-9 to the Bismarck Larks in what was a wild game filled with offense. The game did not start how the Border Cats would have liked as they found themselves down 9-0 by the middle of the second inning. However, when the Border Cats could have given up they showed some life and fought back. In the bottom half of the second inning, the Cats scored five runs. Cam Pearcey provided the big hit with a three-run home run to make the score 9-5. The Cats then added two more runs in the fifth inning to cut the Larks lead to only one. However, the Larks would add another run in the sixth inning and they shut down the Border Cats offense from there.
On the mound, Connor Centala started the game and struggled right from the start. He was charged with nine earned runs in his inning and 2/3 while picking up the loss. Out of the bullpen, Rogelio Reyes was solid in his Border Cats debut. He pitched 3 and 1/3 innings allowing only one earned run. Keenan Eaton also made his debut and pitched a solid two innings allowing only the one run.
Offensively, there were plenty of solid performances. Aside from the big home run from Pearcey, Nick Conti went 3-4 with two runs scored. Willie Bourbon went 2-4 with three runs scored and one RBI. Finally, Brandon Trammell went 3-5 with two RBI’s and one run scored.
The Cats will now hit the road for a quick two-game road trip to Lacrosse, WI. to take on the Loggers. First pitch in Lacrosse is scheduled for 7:05 ET. You can follow all the action from Lacrosse through our Twitter tbbordercats.
