Border Cats Swept in Lacrosse
The Thunder Bay Border Cats were swept in their short two-game road trip to Lacrosse, WI. The Cats lost Sunday evening 8-3 to the Loggers in a game that the Cats struggled right from the start.
Alex Nolan started the game and struggled in his five innings. The Loggers scored three runs in the first inning followed by one in the third and two more in the fourth and fifth innings. Nolan allowed all eight of those runs but only seven were earned. The Cats did manage to tie the game at three in the third inning but it was short-lived as the Loggers scored the one run in the bottom half of the inning as previously mentioned.
It was a tough game offensively for the Cats as they only managed six hits. Brandon Trammell led the way with a 3-4 performance with one RBI and a run scored. Billy Cook also added an RBI and a run scored in a 1-4 performance. The final RBI came off of the bat of Gunner Hellstrom. On the mound, Keenan Eaton pitched a solid two and 1/3 innings of relief without allowing a run.
The Cats will now return home for a quick two-game homestand versus the Duluth Huskies. The Cats have a day off tomorrow but first pitch on Tuesday is scheduled for 7:05 PM. The box office opens at 11 AM. If you can’t make it you can follow all the action through our Twitter tbbordercats.
