Huskies Brush Off Border Cats in Series Sweep
The Border Cats were swept by the Duluth Huskies Wednesday night in front of a solid crowd over 1000 fans. The Huskies took game two 5-3.
The Border Cats took an early lead and held onto it for most of the game. Shane Connahan had an RBI single in the second inning to give the Cats a 1-0 lead. In the fifth inning, the Cats added two more runs thanks to RBI’s from Brady Gulakowski and Dylan Caplinger. The Cats held the 3-0 lead until the eighth inning thanks to a solid start from Connor Centala. He pitched six innings allowing only two runs with one of them being unearned and striking out six. The tides started to turn in the sixth inning when the Huskies scored two runs. The Cats held the one-run lead until the eighth inning when the Huskies added three more runs. From that point on the Huskies held the lead and did not allow the Cats to get back into the game. The Cats loaded the bases in the ninth inning and looked poised to tie the game. However, Kieran Shaw closed out the game for the Huskies.
The Cats will now hit the road for a four-game road trip which sees them visit Rochester, MN. and Waterloo, IA. This road trip also includes the All-Star Game in Kalamazoo, MI. which takes place on Tuesday.
