MOONDOGS PREVAIL LATE TO TAKE SERIES OPENER VERSUS BORDER CATS

Thursday night’s affair between the Mankato Moondogs and Thunder Bay Border Cats came down to the wire but Austin Bull’s bases loaded, 2 out walk in the 9th proved to be the difference as the Moondogs take it 4-3 the final. The Border Cats threatened in the bottom half with men on 2nd and 3rd but Zach Hardy struck out Brandon Trammell to finish it off. Thunder Bay found themselves trailing 3-zip early but battled back as Trammell scored on an error in the 4th and Daniel DeSimone drove in 2 in the 5th to tie it up. Kyle MacDonald picked up his league leading 62nd RBI with a double in the 3rd for Mankato. Zac Wiley and Sean Noel had the other RBI for the Moondogs. Brandon Pfaadt picked up the winning throwing 3 and a third of shutout baseball giving up just one hit, while John Sakowski suffered the loss. Nick Conti had two hits for Thunder Bay. The two teams wrap up their series Friday night at Port Arthur Stadium. It should be a great night at the ballpark as it is Thunder Bay Community Auditorium Night. Grab a raffle ticket while entering the ballpark for your chance to win tickets for upcoming concerts at The Auditorium. 7:05 pm is 1st pitch.
