Dietrich Dominates Border Cats in Express Victory
The Thunder Bay Border Cats began their short three day road trip with a 10-6 loss to the Eau Claire Express. The Express built an 8-0 lead early in the game which made it tough for the Cats to get back into the ballgame. A six-run third inning was the big difference as the Express batted around and roughed up the Cats starting pitcher Rogelio Reyes. The Cats started to make a comeback in the sixth and seventh inning when they scored five runs and cut the Express lead to 8-5. However, the Express bounced back with two more runs in the bottom half of the seventh inning.
The Cats struggled to get much going tonight thanks to a marvelous performance from the Express starting pitcher Rece Dietrich. He went six innings allowing three runs (2 earned) and striking out seven Border Cats. Cam Pearcey, Kyle Czaplak, and Brandon Trammell had the most success among the Cats batters. Czaplak and Trammell provided two RBI each and Pearcey scored two runs along with two hits.
The Cats will look to split the series and get back into the win column tomorrow versus the same Express team. First pitch from Eau Claire is scheduled for 7:35 ET. You can follow all the action through our Twitter tbbordercats.
