Border Cats Start Final Road Trip with Big Win!

The Thunder Bay Border Cats began their final road trip of the season Monday night versus the Waterloo Bucks. The Border Cats scored nine runs through the first three innings to give them a comfortable lead en route to a 9-5 win.

In the first inning, the Cats batted around and scored four runs. The big hit of the inning came off of the bat of Tavien Gillette who had a two-RBI single. Gillette later added two more RBI as he went 2-3 with one run scored and a walk. The other RBI came off of the bats of Willie Bourbon, Ryan Tackett, and Omar Maldonado. Keenan Eaton started the game for the Border Cats and pitched very well in his five innings. He limited the Bucks to only three runs while striking out four. Jack Rasmussen came in relief for Eaton and allowed only one unearned run in his three innings. The Bucks tried to stage a late comeback but Rasmussen and Andrew Gross were able to shut them down.

The Cats will now have a day off but for Billy Cook, Cam Pearcey, Brandon Trammell, and Omar Maldonado they will be heading to Madison, WI. to participate in the Northwoods League Major League Dreams Showcase. The Cats will continue their series against the Bucks on Wednesday. First pitch is scheduled for 12:05 ET.
