Rox Solid Pitching is too Much for Border Cats

The Thunder Bay Border Cats opened their final road series of the season with a 3-0 loss to the St. Cloud Rox. The Cats struggled to get anything going as they only managed two hits in the entire ballgame.

Andrew Gross started the game for the Cats and pitched well in his five innings. He struggled with his command early in the game which resulted in the Rox scoring a run in the first inning. After that, he found his command and shut down the Rox. St. Cloud did score one more run in the fourth although it was unearned. Chris Fousek, Omar Maldonado, and Charlie Bourbon entered the game out of the bullpen for the Cats and each pitched one inning. The Cats pitchers combined to only allow six hits. Offensively, there is not much to comment about. Calen Schwabe and Ben McConnell were the two Cats with the hits.

The Cats will look to split the series tomorrow night against the same Rox team. It will be the final road game of the season as the Cats will return home on Saturday to open a two-game series. You won’t want to miss Saturday’s game as post-game there will be the largest fireworks show in Border Cats history! We’re already half sold out so make sure to get your tickets early! The box office is open tomorrow from 11AM-4PM.
