Despite 11 hits on the night, the Border Cats left nine men on base and dropped their fourth straight game to open the season with a 3-1 loss to the Rochester Honkers Friday night at Mayo Field.  With the Honkers leading 3-0, Thunder Bay’s Bryce Jorgenson (Minnesota-Crookston) broke up the shutout bid in the top of the 9th inning with an RBI double that scored Karsten Vasquez (Sacramento City College).  Ryne Edmondson (Houston Baptist University) led the Cats at the plate going 3-for-4 while Jakob Newton (Florida Tech University) went 2-for-4.  Austin Eggelston (Friends University) took the loss in his Thunder Bay debut as he gave up two runs in the 6th inning with the Honkers breaking open a  scoreless tie.  The Cats return home to open a six-game homestand Saturday night against the Mankato MoonDogs at Port Arthur Stadium.  First pitch is scheduled for 7:35 pm with fireworks following the game.
