BORDER CATS TO OPEN 2020 NORTHWOODS LEAGUE SEASON AT HOME

Thunder Bay, Ont. – The Thunder Bay Border Cats will begin their 18th season in the Northwoods League at home on Tuesday, May 26, 2020, when they welcome the Eau Claire Express to Port Arthur Stadium at 7:05 pm. The home opener will kick off a four-game series between the Border Cats and Express to start the 2020 Northwoods League campaign.

Thunder Bay’s first road trip of the season will be in Waterloo, Iowa, for a four game series against the Bucks from May 30 to June 2.   The Border Cats will play the other nine teams in the Great Plains Division eight times each for a total of 72 games

Other highlights of the 2020 home schedule include a pair of “School Day” games starting at 11:05 am on May 27 versus Eau Claire and June 10 against Waterloo. The Border Cats will host their traditional fireworks game, prior to the July 1st holiday, on June 30 versus the Bismarck Larks at 7:35 pm and play the following afternoon with their annual Canada Day game against the Duluth Huskies at 1:35 pm.

Thunder Bay will also host a split doubleheader at Port Arthur Stadium on July 14 against the Lacrosse Loggers with games at 12:35 pm and 7:05 pm. The Cats close out the regular season, also at home, on August 9 versus the St. Cloud Rox at 1:35 pm.

Manager Mike Steed continues to assemble the 2020 playing roster and the organization will begin announcing the first round of player signings later this week. The Border Cats will also be announcing special ticket packages in the coming days just in time for Christmas gift giving.
