Former Border Cat Making an Impact at MLB Spring Training

With Major League Baseball spring training less than two weeks from the finish line, a number of former Border Cats are appearing during exhibition games in Arizona and Florida.  Jason Vosler, who suited up for the Border Cats in 2013, is having an impressive spring as he attempts to make the San Francisco Giants.  The 27-year old third baseman has played in 13 Cactus League games for the Giants and is hitting .342 (13-38), with four doubles, one triple, two runs batted in, five runs scored and one stolen base.  Following two years in the San Diego Padres organization, Vosler signed as a free agent with San Francisco during the off-season and was placed on the club’s 40-man roster.  In his last full season in 2019 with the Padres Triple-A team in El Paso, Vosler batted .291 in 116 games with 20 home runs and 67 RBI’s. The West Nyack, NY, native was originally selected in the 16th round by the Chicago Cubs in the 2014 MLB Draft.  Vosler, who played his collegiate baseball at Northeastern University, appeared in 66 games with Thunder Bay in 2013 and hit .275 with seven home runs and 47 runs batted in. He was also recently featured on mlb.com.
