Thunder Bay Border Cats took advantage of four walks and a hit batter in the bottom of the seventh inning to score three runs as they rallied to beat the Eau Claire Express 4-2 on Saturday night before 1,167 fans at Port Arthur Stadium.  Logan Johnstone (Gonzaga University) led the Cats at the plate, going 2-for-4 with a run scored, while Patrick Engskov (University of Oklahoma) doubled and scored twice.  The victory ended a two-game losing skid for the Cats and improved their record to 7-8.
Kannon Carr (Jefferson College) picked up his first win of the season in relief as he struck out five over 2 1/3 shutout innings in another dominating performance on the mound.  The game also featured a leaping catch at the fence by Thunder Bay right fielder Dalton Mullins (Angelina College) that robbed Eau Claire’s Bronson Rivera (University of Hawaii) of a third inning home run.
The Cats and Express close out their two-game series on Sunday afternoon at 1:35pm.  Righthander Peyton Fosher (University of Nevada) will take his 1-0 record to the mound for the Cats.  It’s Little League/Girls Softball Day as all players wearing their team jersey receive free admission.  It’s also Family Day with 4 grandstand tickets, 4 hot dogs, 4 Pepsi and 4 bags of Old Dutch chips all for just for $44+tax.
