The Thunder Bay Border Cats fell in the opener of their four-game home series against Rochester on Thursday as the Honkers won it going away 15-5 before 925 fans at Port Arthur Stadium.  The Honkers scored early and often putting up three runs in the first inning and adding four more in the second.  The loss was the Cats fifth straight and dropped their second half record to 0-3 and 17-18 overall.
Ben North (Creighton University) had a career night at the plate for the Honkers as he went 5-for-6 with eight runs batted in thanks to a grand slam, a three-run homer and an RBI double.  Tyler Kehoe (South Alabama) led the Cats going 3-for-4 with a two-run triple while new first baseman Daylan Pena (Texas State University) had two hits, including a double.
Peyton Leon (Grayson College) was tagged with the loss as he gave up seven runs over two innings to fall to 0-1 on the season.  The Cats and Honkers meet again on Friday night at 7:35pm.  There’s post-game fireworks and it’s also “Fly Away Friday’s” as one lucky fan will win a trip for two anywhere Porter Airlines flies.
