The Thunder Bay Border Cats earned a split of their four-game series with Rochester, winning their second straight, with a 10-4 win over the Honkers on Sunday in front of 915 fans at Port Arthur Stadium.  The Cats took control of the game by scoring two runs in the third inning and adding three runs in both of the fourth and fifth frames as they improved their second half record to 2-4 and 19-19 overall.
Zane Skansi (Creighton University) had a big day at the plate, going 4-for-5, with two runs batted in and two runs scored.  Logan Johnstone (Washington State University) and Daylan Pena (Texas State University) both had two hits and drove in a pair of runs while Patrick Engskov (University of Oklahoma) had three stolen bases and scored three times.
Thunder Bay’s Jack Pineau started for the Cats and allowed one run on four hits with four strikeouts over 4 2/3 innings.  Michael Pirrello (University of California-Irvine) picked up his first win in relief as he gave up two runs in 2 1/3 innings.
The Border Cats now hit the road for six games and they’ll open a two-game series on Monday against the Duluth Huskies.  The season series for the Superior Cup is tied at two games apiece.  First pitch at Wade Stadium is scheduled for 7:35pm ET.
