The Thunder Bay Border Cats needed to work overtime to do it, with a 7-6 victory over the Rochester Honkers in 10 innings before 909 fans Saturday night at Port Arthur Stadium.  Pinch hitter Trey Lewis (South Alabama) lined a game winning single to left field scoring college teammate Tyler Kehoe (South Alabama) in the bottom of the tenth.  After Rochester took a 5-4 lead in the top of the inning, Kehoe tied the game with an RBI single before coming around to score the winning run.
It was a see-saw affair with the Cats scoring three times in the fifth inning to tie the game 3-3 on a bases loaded, sun aided triple, by Logan Johnstone (Washington State University) and then taking a 4-3 lead after seven on a sacrifice fly by Johnstone for his fourth run batted in of the game.  Kehoe had a 2-for-5 night at the plate while Travis Chestnut (Texas A&M University) scored a pair of runs.  Karson Shepherd (Texas A&M University-Kingsville) got the final out of the tenth inning for the win to even his record at 1-1.
The Border Cats close out their homestand Sunday afternoon against the Honkers at 1:35pm with Thunder Bay native Jack Pineau (Creighton University) getting the start on the mound.  The righthander has made six appearances this season and is 1-1 with 3.45 ERA. Sunday is “Family Day” with four tickets, four hot dogs, four Pepsi and four bags of Old Dutch Chips all for just $44.00 and kids can run the bases after the game.
