Thunder Bay, Ont., – The Thunder Bay Border Cats are pleased to announce the return of two more players for the 2024 season with the signings of pitcher Griffin Catto and outfielder Zane Skansi.

Catto, a 20-year-old from Whitby, Ont., is in his sophomore season at Jefferson College in Missouri and appeared in 13 games for the Border Cats last season.  The 6’1”, 205-pound righthander compiled a 2-1 record with two saves and 15 strikeouts over 20 2/3 innings of work.

Skansi is a 5’11”, 200-pound junior at Creighton University in Omaha, Neb, where is a teammate of Border Cats pitcher Jack Pineau.  The native of Gig Harbor, WA, played in 31 games for Thunder Bay in 2023 and hit .303 with two home runs, three doubles and 16 RBI.

The Border Cats will also have pitcher Shane Kearby and outfielder Lucas Terilli return this season.  Kearby, a lefthander from the University of Missouri-St. Louis, pitched in three games for the Cats last season going 0-1 with a 4.50 earned run average.  Terilli, who attends Eastern New Mexico University, played in six games for Thunder Bay in 2023 and batted .296 with two runs batted in.

In addition, the Border Cats have signed the following players for the 2024 season. Catcher Jackson Cooke (University of Tennessee-Martin), infielder Kyle Morrison (University of South Alabama), infielder Ty Brooks (University of South Alabama), pitcher Trent Roehler (Hutchinson JC), and pitcher Andrew Hardin (Southwestern University).

The Border Cats open the 2024 regular season May 27 in Rochester versus the Honkers.  The Cats home opener is May 31 at Port Arthur Stadium against the Minnesota Mud Puppies.  Tickets are now on sale at the stadium box office weekdays from 11:00 am to 3:00 pm.
