First baseman Cole Ketzner (pictured), had two hits in the Border Cats 5-3 loss to the Wausau Woodchucks on Saturday night.

The Wausau Woodchucks scored three unearned runs in the top of the ninth inning to knock off the Thunder Bay Border Cats 5-3 before 1,024 fans Saturday night at Port Arthur Stadium. The Cats trailed 2-1, but tied the game with single runs in the seventh inning on an RBI double by Kyle Morrison (Shelton State CC) and a run scoring single by Trey Fikes (Three Rivers College) in the eighth. Fikes had three hits on the night while Cole Ketzner (University of South Alabama), Zane Skansi (Creighton University) and Brody Chrisman (Purdue University) all collected a pair of hits. Sean Heppner (University of British Columbia) suffered the loss in relief.

The Woodchucks improved their record to a Northwoods League best 16-3, while the first place Border Cats slipped by 11-6 in the Great Plains East Division. The two teams wrap up their two-game set on Sunday afternoon at 1:35pm. Cole Poirrier (Nicholls State University) is the scheduled starter for the Cats.
