The Thunder Bay Border Cats ran their winning streak to five games with a 16-7 thumping of the Waterloo Bucks on Tuesday night at Riverfront Stadium. The win improved the Cats second half record to 6-1, tops in the Great Plains East Division, and their overall record to 24-17 on the season.

Leading 2-0, Thunder Bay blew the game wide open by exploding for 12 runs in the fifth inning as they sent 16 men to the plate. Cole Ketzner (University of South Alabama) hit his team leading fifth home run of the season, a two-run shot, in uprising. Ketzner also doubled, walked twice, and scored a pair of runs. Thomas Cooper (Valparaiso University) went 4-for-5 with a double, two runs batted in, and also scored four times, while Ty Brooks (University of South Alabama) had three hits and knocked in a pair of runs. Zane Skansi (Creighton University) added two hits, including his team leading 13th double, that drove in two runs. The Cats had a 16-0 lead after 6 ½ innings before the Bucks scored twice in the seventh, and five times in the eighth, to round out the scoring.

Max Ramirez IV (Niagara University) tossed five shutout innings to improve his record to a perfect 5-0. The righthander gave up just two hits and two walks while striking out five.

The Cats and Bucks will play a split doubleheader on Wednesday with the opener at 1:05pm ET and the nightcap at 7:35pm ET.
