The Thunder Bay Border Cats ended up with a split of their final series of the season with the Duluth Huskies after falling 11-3 on Wednesday at Wade Stadium. The Cats, who captured the Superior Cup on Tuesday, won the 12-game season series between the two clubs 7-5. The Huskies had a 4-2 lead in the finale and broke the game open with a six-run fifth inning as the Border Cats second half record slipped to 13-12. The loss leaves Thunder Bay two games behind first place Duluth in the Great Plains East Division standings with 10 games remaining.

Trey Fikes (Three Rivers College) had a 2-for-3 night at the plate for the Cats with a walk and scored twice, while Jackson Cooke (University of Pittsburgh) went 2-for-4 with a walk. Adam Metivier (Piedmont University) started on the mound and suffered his first loss of the season. The lefthander gave up six hits and four runs over 2 2/3 innings.

The Cats continue their extended road trip on Thursday when they open a two-game series in Wausau against the playoff bound Woodchucks. Mason Lemons (Arkansas State University-Mountain Home) is the scheduled starting pitcher for the Cats with first pitch set for 7:35pm ET.
